Update: Regarding Some Changes Going Forward... (Sept. 2021)

Hi, everyone! I know I've been kind of silent lately, but I've had quite a few things going on in my life lately. And now I'm starting school again. Unfortunately the summer was not as... relaxing and rejuvenating as I thought it would be! It was in some aspects, but definitely could have been better.

So, I'm here today to give a bit of a major update that comes after a lot of thought and reflection on what I want to be / contribute to the online TTRPG sphere. I've enjoyed my time in the sphere, and I'm not going anywhere (don't worry) but there's some restructuring to be done in one major aspect.

I'm no longer going to be writing session summaries and posting them here.

This decision was a difficult one to make, especially because I do enjoy writing them. I like having the written record of what has occurred, especially because I am a very forgetful person. However, they take up a lot of my time. I've found myself, in the last couple of months when I actually have free time, still floundering, trying to figure out when I'm going to find the time to write them. The free time that I have just... isn't enough. I work, and I have games to plan, aside from summarize.

Now that I'm going back to school for my last year of university (yay!) and I'm also working a little more, it's only going to get harder. Granted, I could write shorter summaries, but... I don't want to. I feel like that's doing them a disservice, in a way. I like how they're structured, and I like the detail I put into them. It makes it feel... right; it makes it feel like a true summary. I don't want to feel like (for lack of a better term) I'm half-assing it. I'd rather provide thorough, thought-out content for this that is a reflection of my hard work in the medium of TTRPGs. I want to do that with the session summaries, but I don't think they will be the quality I want them to be right now, if I continue to do them. I want all of you to be able to enjoy the game as much as my players do, and a quality summary is the best way to do that. And I can't guarantee their quality right now.

Will the summaries that are on the blog stay there? Yes, yes they will. The information on the characters in the game will also stay. None of the previous posts will be going anywhere.

Will I stop writing them forever? I don't know. Right now I will not be, but things could change in the future. And it could be that I just... keep going from wherever I am in those campaigns at any given time! I'm not sure yet what will happen. If the campaigns that I've been posting about here finish, I think I'll give something of a wrap-up statement that kind of... closes my thoughts on the games very nicely. A nice... over-all, it's-over-now type of summary, if you will.

So what's happening with the blog? Well... I want to go back to my original plan for what this blog was supposed to be: concept posts. That was what inspired me to do this in the first place, and I don't feel like I do enough of them. I want to go back to my roots, as it was. I want to talk about ideas, storylines, cool characters and settings, and whatever else my brain has rattling around in it. Those posts don't take as much time to write, and they allow for (in my opinion) more creative expression while writing than a session summary does. That was really the goal for this blog: creative expression. While session summaries are fun to write and share, and useful to me as a DM, there are other, better ways that I think I could be expressing myself at this time.

I'll be changing my upload schedule on Twitter (@Em_CampsNChars) in the coming days to reflect this change. I don't know when I'll be posting regularly again (as I'm getting used to this new schedule) but it'll be soon, ideally.

Thanks for all the support, guys! I hope you all continue to enjoy the content that's here, and I'll talk to you all again soon.

UPDATE: January 31st 2021

Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well! I'm writing this to give out some updates on some of the things I've been working on as well as a new posting schedule for the blog itself.

For those of you who follow me on Twitter (@Em_CampsNChars) my upload schedule is on my profile. It's the pinned tweet at the very top. The schedule has changed due to the fact that I'm starting school again on February 1st. I think this new schedule will allow me more time to complete my schoolwork, and still give all of you some amazing content! For those of you who don't have Twitter:

PC, NPC, and Campaign Concepts will be uploaded on Sundays - specifically the first, second, and third Sundays of each month. The fourth Sunday will be an off-week for me, so I can make sure I'm doing my homework and taking care of myself. If there is a fifth Sunday in the month, then I'll put up a Twitter poll, and there can be a vote for what goes up on that Sunday!

All of the session summaries will go up as usual: Matchmaker on Wednesdays, Tri-Panthonic War on Fridays, and System Space on Saturdays.

Please bear with me if some of the posts are uploaded later in the day or even at night. I might also miss or postpone uploads, and/or the schedule might not work as I intended. In that case, I'm going to have to re-work it again. My school work is always going to come first when it comes to this stuff.

Beyond all that, I have a couple things coming very soon:

- I'm taking another poetry class, and I'm going to try to make most (if not all) of my poems based in D&D and fantasy. So, of course, they'll go on the blog too! So anticipate more poetry from me very soon - potentially even weekly!

- I asked if you guys wanted a highlight reel from Welcome to the System Space from before that campaign started being posted here. It's in the works, for sure, but it's also long and there's a lot I have to remember to include. I'm hoping to have that up soon, preferably by the end of February.

- I also plan on doing a highlight reel for Tri-Panthonic War in the near future, but that will take me some time. That campaign is over a year old, almost a year and a half. That's a lot of content. So although it's coming, you probably won't see it until late spring or even summer. I don't really have a timeline for that yet.

So yeah! That's basically what's going on at the moment. Thanks for your support! More content on the way! Talk to you all very soon.

UPDATE: December, 17th 2020 - NEW CAMPAIGN

Just wanted to take the time to update everyone on what's going on with me, the blog, and my D&D shenanigans!

Biggest update is that I'm starting a new campaign! This campaign is titled "Matchmaker, Matchmaker" and is based on the post I made in Campaign Concepts back in November. If you follow me on Twitter (@Em_CampsNChars) then you know I've been worldbuilding for this new game for the last few days. That's why I haven't really been posting much this week. Not to mention that I celebrate Christmas, so I'm trying to get my house and gifts together in time for the holiday. I'll update the pages "About Me & My Games" and "Characters in My Campaigns" with the new info, and you can expect session summaries for this "Matchmaker" Campaign, just like I have for my other two games. We'll be playing this game on Tuesday nights, so the summary should be up by Wednesday.

Other than that, I'm still working out a consistent post schedule. It's hard for me to believe that this blog isn't even a month old! Once I get it all squared away, then you'll be seeing more and more of certain types of content posted certain days. The only things I know for sure are:

- "Matchmaker" summaries will be posted on Wednesdays

- "System Space" summaries will continue to be posted on Saturdays

- When my "Tri-Panthonic War" finishes its hiatus (which should be soon, now that my players and I have started our winter break from school) those summaries will be posted on Fridays.

Everything else is still a bit up in the air. I'm still working out all the kinks and trying to balance my ever-growing (gladly growing) D&D life with my work, social, and academic lives. Not to mention my sleep schedule!

Thank you guys for the support! I hope you enjoy the content you find here. If you do, please share the blog with your friends, DM, and players. Follow me on Twitter as well! For now, we're still playing things by ear, but expect more content soon and get excited for a new campaign! Talk to you guys later!

What Are We Making? I'm back! I'm out of university (with a bachelor's degree, huzzah!) and I figured it was time to get back in...
